Spring & Summer 2008
She's a fighter
Syd got sick in
early April (you
can see the IV
patch her on her
left front leg) but
by July you would
never know it.
She's sweet as
ever.
Dog TV
Messerschnift,
our Siberian
Dwarf hamster,
provides endless
entertainment.
Here Nash
watches closely.
Messer is
oblivious - and
safe.
Exploring the Land
March - May 2008
Dog's Easter egg hunt - March 22, 2008
Clockwise: Nash covets his green egg, eyes closed to block out the snow.
~ Katie bends down to snap a cellphone shot of Sydney, who is looking
more for attention than eggs! ~ Syd and Nash closely watching Justin,
who is holding their bounty.
Turning older - April 10, 2008
With a cake made by a good new
friend and an outfit from her favorite
parents.  Do you know how old she
is? Would it help to say that Justin is
the same age? Okay, so who's
older???
Running the Bolder Boulder race - May 26, 2008
Katie imagined the best way to celebrate an anniversary apart was to run.  (what
was she thinking?!) Here she is at the race, although not in the middle pic,
beginning strong (left), and happy to finish! (right)
June - July 2008
North to Alaska - June 23-26, 2008
I traveled to Fairbanks, Alaska to visit my brother Eric
and his growing family: Akiko (sister in law), Mayumi
(niece, on shoulders, above middle), Zen (nephew,
successful crawler, left), and Maxine (little husky). It was
wonderful to finally meet my new nephew, now over 7
months old, and swing my little niece around and
around.  I love being an aunt - and being a sis (and in
law) is pretty sweet too!

Left: Zen, just starting to crawl
Middle: on a walk with Akiko (Zen in pack), Maxine, Eric,
Mayumi
Right: Katie giving Mayumi a ride on her shoulders
North to my first home - June 26-July 2, 2008
Coming back to Ninilchik and existing with my parents
(Elmer and Donna, top) was everything it needed to be.
Promptly upon arriving, I got sick and they nursed me
back to health.  Over the time there, among going to the
beach, seeing the community and people, and going to
Homer and church, I felt much bent-up stress fade from
me.  It was everything I wanted and didn't know to ask for.

Locker hook rug - Aug 2, 2008
Nash kindly presents the locker
hook rug (made with thousands of
fabric loops) that I finished.  With
all the fun (basement) and not so
fun things happenings (A/C going
out at 95 deg heat, Nash's gash
(dog page), Syd sick from heat), I
finally sat down long enough to
finish the rug Mom encouraged me
to start last November.  It now
cushions my feet in front of the
kitchen sink.  Next project: crochet!
